When the going gets tough

Bevivid EmailerEnquiries were down – our expenditure on SEO and Google Adwords was at a record high. An alternative – semi-targeted emails?? Not quite as good as mailing your database of existing contacts – but a start.

We purchased 20,000 named e-mail addresses of companies within a 60 mile radius of Shrewsbury. We designed and produced a quality e-mailer CLICK TO VIEW. Of the 20,000 emails sent 2000 opened the mailer – of those 200 had a good look at the e-mailer and clicked on more than one link.

We then had a telesales company call 150 of those potential leads – the result 8 qualified leads that resulted in £8500 worth of business in the first week – and we still have 4 leads to follow up.

So you’re saying that illegally spamming people actually works?

Thanks for your comments John re the definition of spam.

Just to say the 20k mailing list we used was purchased through a reputable company that supply opt-in e-mails. ie, the recipients have opted in to receive genuine e-mails. There are many definitions of spam – As managing director of BeVivid I have taken the sender / recipient relationship as the foundation to form the definition and base our e-mailing strategy.

BeVivid will only send relevant e-marketing and web information to B2B clients who have opted to receive our e-mails or have expressed an interest in our services. I’m sure that occasionally one or two may slip through which is why we abide by e-mailing guidelines and always have an un-subscribe link at the base of our e-mailers. BeVivid’s e-mail policy in operated via sophisticated, hi-end servers with full back up of all data – this means that if you simply click the unsubscribe button you will no longer receive what I believe is relevant to helping you build your business on line – but you believe it is not.

This, I’m sure you will agree, is a long way from the irrelevant, abusive, pornographic mass e-mails which come under the banner of UBE (unsolicited bulk e-mail) which apart from being annoying are time wasting and an unnecessary cost to our businesses. This UBE cannot be responded to, if you place it in your spam filter it is simply re sent again via another server and the titles used are so ambiguous we have to check them just in case… now that’s SPAM!
