Email Marketing
E-mail marketing is one of the most successful methods for websites to attract targeted leads, not only building brand awareness, but also generating leads, and in the case of e-commerce, positively adding to the bottom line in real time. The key to successful e-mail marketing campaigns is targeting the right audience and presenting a professional looking email with the right message, at the right time.
Let's go back a few years... many of the most successful direct mail campaigns ran within the new car market. How many times did we get another mailer through the door? Junk mail yes - but in many cases the mail shots went to well profiled addresses - for example; Peugeot ran an exceptional campaign in the mid '90's targeting families with 2 children. Peugeot purchased data that told them this group habitually changed their vehicles every 4 years, lived in certain postcodes, were susceptible to promotions and believe it or not liked French cars! They launched their new estate car and broke all previous sales targets for the number of free test drives that converted into sales.
Think about it... if you were one of that target market and the mailer came through the letter box at the right time, it would no longer be junk mail. Your reaction would probably be - "Ah...it's about time I changed the car, I have been thinking about that for a while."
The web allows you to create your own profile of everyone who opens your targeted e-mail...a powerful tool - and when moved into the e-commerce arena the increase in sales by using up-selling and cross-selling makes all the difference.
