Online Advertising

Online marketing is marketing via The Web and can be split into two key areas: online advertising and search engine optimization (SEO). It is worth noting that marketing online is not simply using existing traditional offline advertising and applying it to The Web.

Advertising

Online advertising, in many ways, is more powerful than traditional methods because it allows total interaction on a one to one basis and offers profiling and tracking. It has a different character and purpose when compared to more traditional marketing techniques.

Banners and Skyscraper ads are more easily identifiable as more traditional advertisements. This style of advertising is generally used to build the brand awareness of the big players. Rather than paying for each click the advertiser pays per 1000 "eye impressions", which basically means how many people actually see the banner ad.
Various programming techniques exist, such as Flash Animation, Click here to add movement and life to what is usually a static medium. A good example of this is our own banner and skyscraper ads - visit www.exite.co.uk and enter the words "web design" - you will see our own campaign.

SEO

Pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns can be cost effective - you only pay for the visit to your site - but to make it work you need a decent cost per click (CPC). Click here. And if you want to be number one on the sponsored links it is only budget that will stop you.

Generic SEO, where websites can get to the top of the first page takes time Click here but in time it is possible, with clever programming to move up the search engines without PPC.
